What Customers Say About Simon & Garfunkel - Greatest Hits:

This is NOT a greatest hits album. They are not, neither artistically or sonically. Not only that, but they crossfade some of the applause into the beginning of the studio versions.

The hits are the songs people remember from the radio. Probably. Some of the hits have been replaced with live versions which were not the hits.

How irritating. Is this a scam to make people buy the full albums or singles that they really want. People bought this thinking they were getting the versions they knew. There is ZERO indication on the sleeve that this has any live versions.

Did the producers actually think the live versions are better. If they want a live Simon and Garfunkle album, make it and sell it to the serious die-hards who care.

Brand new like described. I gave this cd to my 15 year old sister for Christmas. Exactly what she asked for. Very happy with product. Will do business with again.A+

I bought this for my husband and he really likes it, but I must say I like the cd.I have bought a few cd's from Amazon and have never been disappointed.

"But a rock feels no pain, and an island never cries."."The Sound of Silence" was my window on the world. Robinson", although a catchy tune, I rejected because of the movie to which it was tied. Simon & Garfunkel helped shape my 1960s teenage years - a crucial time in the development of every human being, when we are propelled toward adulthood - and my early adult life in the 1970s. It was the era of the Viet Nam war, and the nation was in a state of unrest. It jars me back into reality. All in all, this is an important collection of songs that actually helped shape my thinking, and my life, as I grew into adulthood. It was how I viewed what was going on around me. "Mrs.

I get into the music and the lyrics, and they transport me to an inward place of meditation and introspection. "I Am A Rock" became my personal anthem, echoing my own attempts to be strong, although I felt cut off from almost everyone else. The other songs I barely listened to, but I did like "America" some, and "Bookends" a bit.The applause was something for which I did not care. I whispered my own tortured sentiments into the darkness, wishing that others would awaken to what I saw happening around me. It was the time of hippies and the Black Panthers, of war protestors and illegal drug use."Scarborough Fair/Canticle" superimposed my peaceful eastern Kentucky home life onto the world at large, and, again, the Viet Nam war."Homeward Bound" took me toward a safer place, although I was at home while listening to the music, and contemplating my world."The Boxer" reminded me of the grim realities of trying to make my way in the world as a young adult."The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)" added a kick of fun to otherwise dreary thoughts.Later, "Bridge Over Trouble Water" and "El Condor Pasa (If I Could)" both provided a bridge to a safer place in life, and they soothed what troubled me.I never cared for "Cecilia". The applause tends to ruin that effect. I recommend it for those who think deeply, as well as those who love poetic lyrics in their music.

If you feel down, this music can really bring you up. These are great songs. Each is an individual masterpiece.
